Breast Enlargement vs. Breast Augmentation
Most women have heard the terms breast enlargement and breast augmentation and might be confused by them. The difference between breast enlargement and breast augmentation is that breast augmentation refers to surgery to change the size and shape of the breasts while breast enlargement simply means increasing the size of the breasts. Contrary to popular belief breast augmentation often involves the use of plastic surgery to change the appearance of the breasts as much as does an increase in size. Generally the idea is to make the breasts more attractive or at least more conforming to popular ideas of attractive breasts.
Breast augmentation is also the term that plastic surgeons use to describe breast implant surgery. The surgery usually involves the insertion of implants into the breasts to make them appear bigger. In many cases breast enlargement is promoted as an alternative to breast augmentation.
Some Drawbacks to Breast Augmentation or Breast Implant Surgery
Breast augmentation or breast implant surgery is a major operation that usually involves a hospital stay, the use of anesthetics and often results in a period of incapacity for the women. It is usually very expensive and unless it is some sort of reconstructive surgery, breast augmentation is almost never covered by insurance. Breast augmentation is considered cosmetic surgery which is not paid for by most health insurance plans. This means that breast augmentation is quite simply out of reach for a large number of women. Some women do risk their lives using cheaper plastic surgeons or going to developing country for the surgery.
What is Breast Enlargement?
There are a variety of breast enlargement techniques available that do not require surgery. Something that women should be aware of is that many of these techniques are not accepted by mainstream medicine. Alternative breast enlargement techniques usually involve the use of natural herbs, supplements such as breast actives and other forms of alternative medicine to increase the size of the breasts. There is currently no known breast enlargement technique that is as fast or as effective surgery. Although some doctors are skeptical about them there is no real danger from any of the natural breast enlargement methods. There is real danger from breast augmentation or breast implant surgery.
The idea behind most of the natural breast enlargement techniques is to encourage growth of the breasts by increasing the level of hormones in the bloodstream. It is to try and stimulate the kind of breast growth that occurs when women are pregnant or nursing. The general belief is that the correct formula of herbs or natural supplements can stimulate such growth.
